Tourbillon 55 Clock

Precision and attractiveness

Konstantin Chaykin’s table clocks are not just interior timepieces, but well-thought-out, meticulously executed designs in which a variety of decorative techniques are used, turning them into wonderful cinematic works of art, an extraordinary decoration for any refined interior. They are not impersonal mass-produced pieces. Each of Konstantin Chaykin’s table clocks is a stage in his creative biography. Each has its own character, a reason for its creation, its history, unique mechanics, its own set of inventions, as well as a warm, emotional aura of creativity which is open to the sensitive mind.

The “Tourbillon 55 Clock” has three sources. The first is the tourbillons of the great Abraham-Louis Breguet, who invented this device in 1795 as a technical tool to help largely eliminate the negative effects of gravity on the accuracy of mechanical timepieces. The second is the legendary, and one might perhaps say mythical, pocket chronometer with tourbillon, invented in 1829 by the Russian watch master Ivan Tolstoy. The third is Konstantin Chaykin’s “Foundation Tourbillon Clock”, from which begins the history of his manufactory.

MOVEMENT

The calibre T.01-0 of the “Tourbillon 55 Clock” was developed by Konstantin Chaykin. The movement was made entirely at the Konstantin Chaykin manufactory according to the standards of haute horlogerie. Components finished using classical techniques: fine longitudinal and circular grindings ; manual chamfering, polishing; spherical polishing of the axle tips; and galvanized plating of nickel and gilding. A distinctive feature of the movement is the “alpha” carriage design, a signature feature of Konstantin Chaykin’s table tourbillons, as well as four screwed, gilded ouches of different sizes, in which three ball bearings and one jewel bearing are fixed.
